Event Date Meeting Place Leader Duration Notes The Trails Committee will be building its longest ever boardwalk in September, in the Davis Corridor conservation land, and we need a lot of volunteers to help. The work will be spread over three weekends - please save these dates. Saturday, September 13 we will do the foundation work, rain date September 14. September 20 we will cut the wood decking and move it to the site, rain date September 21. Saturday September 27 we will do the actual construction, rain date September 28. Work starts at 9:00 am and runs into the afternoon. Lunch and drinks will be provided. Watch for more details in the Mosquito, at our web site carlisletrails.pbwiki.com, or contact Steve Tobin at 978-369-1680. Meet at Carlisle School parking lot. Walk to Great Brook Farm Ice Cream (3.5 mile) via Lowell St. pathway, Old Morse Road trail, and Fern Loop, arriving around 1:00. Eat ice cream while Anne Marie Brako talks about the history of the Great Brook Farm area. Leave Great Brook and walk 2.8 miles to Kimball’s Ice Cream via Pine Point Loop, Heartbreak Ridge, and Cutter’s Ridge, arriving around 3:15 p.m. Buy more ice cream. Return to Carlisle School parking lot around 4. Sun screen, drinking water, and bug spray are recommended. Hike along the River Trail and bring a picnic lunch to enjoy at scenic Greenough Pond; we'll supply desserts. Return by the Red Tail Trail through fields, pine forests, and a bridge over a beaver pond. Waterproof boots, water, and mosquito repellent recommended. A shorter and a longer version of the trek will be available. One group will ski to Greenough Pond and back if conditions are good. Dress for the winter weather and bring a flashlight.
